The bioss mapper
has been developed to support our consulting activities and our client organisations in organisational and role design. It is an Internet, Intranet or personal computer based tool for profiling and mapping jobs and organisations.
The
bioss mapper enables the user to:

capture the overall purpose and key accountabilities of each job in the organisation.

assess and graphically represent the work level of a job against seven dimensions of work.

develop detailed job profiles.
-
compare and contrast the job profiles of different jobs in the hierarchy.
-
position jobs within a divisional, functional or organisational chart.

map accountabilities across the organisation.
The
bioss mapper
comprises three key
elements:

An
Accountability
Profiler, which
captures the details of specific jobs,
including job title, line managerÕs job title,
overall job purpose and key accountabilities.
The details of current job-holders and their
line managers and direct reports can also be
included.

A
Job Profiler,
which assesses the work level of a particular
job against seven dimensions of work, presents
a graphical representation of the work level
of the job and enables comparisons between
different jobs in the hierarchy. The Job
Profiler produces a detailed profile report
for each job assessed.

An
Organisation Charter,
which maps the organisation (by division,
function or in its entirety) and shows the
allocation and cascade of accountabilities
across the organisation. Current
organisations can be compared to future
alternatives, and transition structures can be
modelled.

AVAILABILITY
TO CLIENT ORGANIZATIONS
The
mapper
is used by
bioss
consultants
as part of their tool-kit in organisation and
role design. It is also available to client
organisations under licence. However, for the
mapper to be used effectively,
client users need to be fully conversant with
the methodology of work levels and trained in
the applications of the
mapper. Fully customised training
programmes for the staff of client organisations
are available.
